I took what was supposed to be Southern Desires and Southern Chaos original plot points and added them to Southern Hospitality. Thus making Southern Hospitality a much longer script which is going to go 50-60 chapters. Though, the chapters are not all that long. They are more the length of a James Patterson novel’s chapters anywhere from 2-10 pages. Whereas some other books I write have longer chapters.
Here is an excerpt from Southern Hospitality. Enjoy.
This is from Chapter 20: Notification of Danger Forthcoming
Apartment 212. Syracuse Grove Apartments…
Elise is in the kitchen cooking breakfast. The eggs sizzle in the bacon grease. Grits are cooking in a pot next to the skillet the eggs are in. On the counter next to the stove is a plate of bacon on top of paper towels. The oven is on cooking the biscuits.
Sitting at the square kitchen table is a weary Walter, whose graying hair is disheveled. He had a mug of coffee in front of him. He sighs. “Smells good.”
“Thanks.” Elise says as she stops stirring the grits and eggs, momentarily, to pull out the biscuits before they burn, with red and white plaid oven mitts on. She turns and puts the tray of biscuits on the island where hot pads sit. “My aunt taught me how to cook. She owns a small bistro in Cyprus Falls.”
Destiny stiffly walks into the living room. She stretches her arms as she yawns. She covers her mouth with the back of her right hand. Destiny smacks her lips. “Mmm. Smells good.”
Then, Elise’s phone rings. Destiny rushes over to the kitchen island to grab the phone. Elise picks it ip before she can arrive. Elise sees the caller id: MICHEL LeBOUF.
Elise swipes the icon to the right to answer the call. “Michel, I was going to call you after breakfast about Chris.”
“Okay.” He says over the phone. “That is not why I called you, though.”
“Oh? Then, why?” Elise furrows a brow.
“We all have a problem, a major problem.” Michel tells her. “I am sending two cars to pick you up within the hour. Be ready.”
“Well, what the problem?”
“I’ll explain that in person after you arrive here.”
“Okay?” Elise says with both brows raised.
“Trust me. You will be better protected here than in your apartment.”
“Alright. We’ll be ready.”
Elise ends the call. She sets her phone down. Destiny looks at her with a raised brow. “Baby, what was that all about?”
“Not sure.” Elise turns the fire off on the stove. She pours the eggs and the grits into large bowls. She sits them next to the bacon. “We’re not going to have much time for enjoying our breakfast. Michel is sending two cars to pick us up.”
“What for?” Walter asks as he gets up from his seat. He walks over to the couch where Michelle is sleeping in a fetal position. He taps her on the shoulder.
“Huh?” Michelle sleepily looks up at her father.
“Time to get up, pumpkin.” Walter tells her. “Breakfast is ready.”
Michelle nods as she rubs her eyes. She gets up from the couch and stretches her arms. Brandon bounds into the room. He sees Michelle sluggishly making her way to the kitchen table. “Morning, sleepy head.”
Michelle turns and glares at Brandon with a look of disgust on her face. “Hmph.”
Brandon notices a bit on uneasiness on everyone’s face. He raises a brow. “What’s going on?”
Destiny rubs the back of her neck. She looks at her brother. “All we know is that Michel is sending two vehicles to pick us up.”
“Why?”
“Michel said that he couldn’t say over the phone, but would tells us when we arrive.” Elise fixes her plate. “We better eat up, get dressed, and pack a few things. I have this feeling we’ll be there a few days.”
“Great.” Brandon rolls his eyes.
“I don’t like it any better than you do.” Elise says as she sits down at the table. “I don’t like being kept in the dark.”
“No one does, my dear.” Walter gets his food. He sighs. “No one does.”
